Woolacombe

    About

Woolacombe is a golden sandy beach, several miles long, located in the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Very popular with surfers and well-served by Woolacombe village, a bustling seaside resort. The waves here can get very big (when the weather is right) and are much steeper and more critical than at Saunton or Putsburough Ideal Surf SUP location with easy access to the beach. Flat day fun can be found exploring the rocks to the north end of the beach at all states of tide. Kite surfing and Wing Foiling must take place south of black rocks and be clear of the life guarded areas during summer season. Black rock is located approximately 250m south of main beach entrance. On very high spring tides the beach can be completely covered making launching and landing dangerous but otherwise woolacombe can be kite surfed or wing foiled at any tide state. Woolacombe works best on a ssw around to a nnw. Northerly wind tends to be gusty and a direct southerly is cross off and gusty. Park either in the main carpark (close to shops café and toilets) or on the Esplanade. Esplanade parking is free during the winter. Launch spot is a short but flat walk across the sand. Access to middle beach can also be gained by parking on marine drive next to the café , showers and toilets. Short walk down the dunes, longer steeper walk back up 😊. This spot is great in the summer as you will find the beach will be quiet and you will not often find many riders in the water Massive thanks to West Kiteboarding for the location update.
