Somerset, South West
About
Westward Ho! is south of the Taw/Torridge Estuary on the north coast of Devon. It is a large sandy beach, approximately 1.7 kilometres wide, backed by a pebble ridge. Many rock pools are visible at low tide.
Home of 514 elemental kite school.
Park in the huge carpark behind the beach
Toilets can be found at the north and very south of the carpark but are often closed in off season
Sandy beach protected by large stone bank. Do not kite 1 hour either side of high tide as launch and landing become dangerous as beach is often fully covered.
Stay north of lifeguards
Sandy bottom beach but can be stony at northern end of beach near river mouth.
Spot can get busy but there is loads of room.
Refreshment: Shops, cafes and restaurants in the town. Cafe nearish to beach
Massive thanks to West Kiteboarding for the location updates
