About
This is an epic start and finish spot for a paddle session. The spot marked in the Buccaneer App is a carpark so no worries about parking and transporting gear to the water. There is also a coffee/snack shack there overlooking the water.
Shoreham Fort is located at the eastern end of Shoreham Beach at the entrance to Shoreham Harbour. The paddle session we did started 2 hours before high tide and you can ride the last bit of the tidal push up the River Adur and then turn around and ride it back down as the water starts to drop. Great day out... and has you paddle upriver out of Shoreham there is some really scenic countryside.
As well as a paddle spot this location is used for swimming a lot. Although it's tidal and technically a river mouth the way the final meander of the River Adur opens in to Shoreham harbour keeps the water slow moving and protected from the wind and waves so its pretty flat and on the day we were there surprisingly clear.
Conditions
This is a working harbour so there are boats activly using the river channel.
There are submerged rocks and old harbour works such as concret pillars and marker poles sticking out of the ground in
