About
Mile End skatepark was unveiled by Gravity in June 2011, it is a heavily street oriented park and is the focal point of the East London skate scene. With some strong lines and some less obvious ones, this skatepark pushes skaters to be more creative and try something new. Within the fencing there is large, silky smooth concrete street section and a rapid bowl that leads into it.
The street section is mainly bank and block based with some rails scattered about. In one corner there is a 4 foot flat bank hip with a Koston block on top to link lines, which leads into a rail and onto a block. In the opposite corner there is a video inspired Toblerone block with a tight bank and a short platform that leads into a 2.5 foot deep dish to grind over with an adjoining manny pad and bar.
The bowl is as challenging as the rest of the park at 4 foot deep rolling into an 8 foot at its deepest point, it links straight back into the street course and leaves a few options for gaps in and out of the bowl. There are also some mini ramps under the train arches for when its wet outside.
Mile End skatepark should be placed towards the top of your list of must visit skateparks in London as it offers a lot of unique lines and obstacles for skaters of all abilities, you could esily spend a day here learning the lines.
