About
Kefalos beach is a long and narrow beach on the south east coast of Kos. It’s around a 45 minute drive from the islands capital Kos Town and just a 20 minutes drive from the airport.
Kefalos beach runs from Kamari beach in the south to Agios Stefanos beach in the north. Because it’s the main beach for the village of Kefalos it does get fairly busy but due to it’s length it doesn’t really feel crowded. The beach isn’t covered in sun loungers like some of the more tourist heavy ones are so you can easily turn up with a towel, a good book and some refreshments and it wont cost a penny.
For refreshments you can pop in to one of the many tavernas that you’ll find along this stretch of the Kos coast line.
Conditions
Kefalos relies on strong northerly thermal winds blowing down the Aegean, called the Meltemi. Due to the geographical structure of the southern tip of the island, the wind is funneled through towering hills behind the village giving strong, consistent and reliable winds from the end of May right through to the end of September.
