Flimston Bay (BSS)

    Wales

    About

Flimston Bay is an epic spot facing south under the Castlemartin Cliffs so it gets sun pretty much all day. The cliffs shelter it from most of the wind . It is accessible by passing through Bosherston, parking at St Govans chapel and taking a walk westwards along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path past Bullslaughter Bay . Nearby on the coast path is the Green Bridge a well-known natural rock feature and a spectacular 80-feet high natural arch jutting out from the cliffs and topped by green vegetation. On the headland wes tof the beach is a huge collapsed sea cave called the Cauldron where the sea can be seen from above crashing into through the cave mouth. The nearby Elegug Stack is another popular attraction, a great pillar of rock with the largest seabird nesting site in the county seen from the cliff path. The spot is also popular for climbers. Flimston Bay offers plenty of decent routes including many at an interesting grade. There is climbing all over the area but for most climbers the majority of the routes will be too hard. Flimston Crack and Bow-Shaped Slab offer a great sea cliff experience at a grade that most can manage. The most popular area is the accessible Crystal Slabs - heaven for those into slabby routes.
