Banavie (Canoe Jetty) CALEDONIAN CANAL

    Scotland

    About

Banavie Egress/Access: Banavie is a primary starting or finishing point for the Great Glen Canoe Trail. There are low-level pontoons and jetties designed specifically for canoeists to safely embark, disembark, and load gear. Portaging: Because paddling inside the lock chamber is banned, you will need to portage. Many paddlers rent or bring portage trolley wheels to manage the 450-meter carry around the 8-lock Neptune's Staircase flight. Trail Registration: If you are paddling the full coast-to-coast route, you are highly encouraged to register your trip in advance via the Scottish Canals Paddling Guide.
